California Personal GPS Tracking company GTX has taken keeping tabs to a whole new level. They’ve recently developed a shoe that tracks the whereabouts of Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients, Fox News reported.

The shoe, which is being produced by footwear company Aetrex, looks like a standard pair of sneakers to the casual observer, but contains a sophisticated GPS signal tracking devices embedded in the sole. The shoe was first dreamed up in 2002 following the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping case in an attempt to help locate missing children. The concept has been appropriated to combat the rising costs of incurred by Alzheimer’s disease.

“This is a significant milestone for both companies and while the $604 billion worldwide cost of dementia has become and will continue to be a significant fiscal challenge, the under $300 GPS enabled shoes will ease the enormous physical and emotional burden borne by Alzheimer’s victims, caregivers and their geographically distant family members,” said Patrick Bertagna, chief executive of GTX Corp.
The shoes were recently certified by the Federal Communications Committee as well as by, I’m sure, whatever government agency regulates shoes.
More than 5 million Americans currently suffer from Alzheimer’s and 60% of these at one point or another wander off and get lost. Families can now feel safer by purchasing the shoes, which go for under $300, as patients are less likely to remove their shoes than they would a tracker that feels unfamiliar, like an amulet.
GTX Corp, “The Better People Finder”, has displayed remarkable innovation in utilizing GPS technology to keep Alzheimer’s patients safe.

Parents are constantly looking for ways to keep tabs on the nation’s most fatal subset of drivers, teenagers. Increasingly, they are turning to the most sophisticated technology available to do so – GPS tracking devices, PR Urgent reports.

According to a 2010 fact sheet from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, driving accidents are the leading causes of death in the age group, claiming one of every three teenage deaths. as of 2009, eight teens die daily as a result of motor vehicle accidents, and 3,000 teen lives were claimed that same year. Teens are also four times as likely as adults to crash. While the 15-24 age bracket comprise only 14% of the entire US population, yet they accounted for about 30% of total motor vehicle accident costs.

More and more, guardians of teenagers are deciding that constant cell phone check-ins just aren’t enough. Parents need to be aware of their child’s speed and location when in a car at all times, and GPS tracking devices provide that possibility. Small trackers can be easily inserted into glove boxes or even hardwired to the vehicle itself. Certain devices alert parents via cell phone when their ward’s vehicle exceeds a predetermined speed limit or ventures outside a preset Geo-fence.

Says GPS expert Gilbert Walz, “With real-time GPS trackers and GPS tracking software, parents now have the ability to monitor their teenager’s driving with great detail, including speed and location at any time, day or night.”

Another example of how GPS technology is proving itself as a remarkable safety innovation.

Why a GPS Child Locator is Important for the Safety of Your Child

It has been repeated far and wide that with child kidnappings on the rise year after year children everywhere are fighting the chance to become the victims of abduction. According to a study carried out over the course of a year, it was reported that an average of 797,500 children under the age of eighteen. In other words, 2,185 children are reported missing each day. Internet predators as well as those on the street are unfortunately great in number. A personal GPS tracking device could be a needed remedy for this crisis on the rise.

GPS child trackers are readily available and can be attached easily onto a child’s backpack or clothing. Many child safety products come in kid friendly shapes and colors, and would not appear out of place or in any way obtrusive to the child’s every day activities. Child safety is not something to be taken lightly, especially in today’s world.

The locator can track the precise location of the child to which it is attached. The positions and movements of the GPS receiver are immediately sent to a third party, allowing parents to be constantly aware of their child’s whereabouts. Alerts can be sent directly to any mobile device.

In the past 20 years, statistics have shown that the percentage of child abductions has risen over 450%. At the very least, a GPS child locator can allay any fears that parents may have, as well as prevent a terrible situation from occurring. Purchasing child locator devices is a small and easy step towards keeping young children safe from people with ill intent. Ironically, GPS satellites orbiting the earth provide for an easy way to keep children closer to home.
